the venetian in las vegas. >> exactly, that was the last time we saw -- yes, we were in the venetian, yes. we were filming a tv show together for several months, actually, yes. [ cheers and applause ] not this one, yes. >> kathryn: it's going to be so good. >> yeah, it was so much fun. we just wrapped, what was it, a week and a half ago? >> kathryn: week and a half ago. >> for the two weeks previous to that, we were filming and living in the venetian hotel in las vegas. >> kathryn: yes. >> for two weeks straight. which is a very long time to be in a hotel in las vegas. >> kathryn: in las vegas. >> yeah. >> kathryn: i went out three times. >> yeah, exactly, yeah. because it was also two hundred million degrees outside. [ laughter ] so yeah, there would be points where i was like, i haven't breathed outdoor air in 72 hours. and then i'd go outside and be like, you can't live out here. [ laughter ] >> kathryn: no. >> too hot. >> kathryn: humans are not supposed to. >> no. i ate at the grand luxe 400,000 times. [ laughter ] that menu has 200 things on it, and i ate every one of those things. the buffalo chicken rolls. it's like a fancy cheesecake

factory. [ laughter ] >> kathryn: yeah, it is. >> it is. >> kathryn: oh my god. you know you're in trouble when you know the casino, "oh, yeah, just take a left by the --" >> yeah, "you don't want to go to that coffee place, busy with tourists. go to the upstairs coffee place by the canals." >> kathryn: that was bananas. i think i kind of did vegas, i can say, safely. >> we were there toward two weeks. >> kathryn: there for two weeks. >> more times than people spend collectively in their whole lives. normal vegas the first week and a half. one day our casino was filled with bald men with ponytails and tie-dyed shirts. oh, the grateful dead is here. [ laughter ] the sphere is connected to the venetian, where we were staying, and the grateful dead were playing at the sphere. i can't speak for everyone, but i did a ton of acid. [ laughter ] >> kathryn: yeah.

>> and then went to the grateful dead show. >> kathryn: yes. >> with everybody. and with you. and it -- it blew my [ bleep ] mind. >> kathryn: yeah, it really did. >> yeah, it was really -- it was really something. >> kathryn: oh, i danced the entire -- i didn't know any of the music. >> no, none. >> kathryn: i danced the entire time. >> i know. it's weird to hear a band for the first time and then them become your favorite band of all-time. [ laughter ] maybe just happened there. i did work with barbra streisand there, though on a movie called "the guilt trip." >> kathryn: yes. >> and yeah, barbra, she played the slots. >> kathryn: she did? >> yeah, as a -- as an older jewish lady is wont to do, i guess. the most fun was, though, we shot in las vegas, and in the movie, me and paul rudd's characters go to a cirque du soleil show on mushrooms. >> kathryn: oh, yes. >> it was really fun. in order to scout the movie, judd apatow sent me and evan goldberg, who you just worked with as well. >> kathryn: love him. >> he sent to us las vegas to do mushrooms and see every cirque du soleil show. [ laughter ] and then report back which one was the best one to film at. and after it happened, we had no

recollection of any of them. [ laughter ] like yeah! it's incredibly graphic.

he's pretending to hit his face with me and all this stuff. and i'm like -- we're doing it all, we're doing "a" to "z." and there was a moment very quick into the recording where i'm staring at his face and he's staring at mine and we're groaning and sweating and grunting. "i think it would be better if we didn't do this together, actually." [ laughter ] "i think this would be easier to do alone." >> kathryn: okay. i was very curious about how these ideas came together. because they're very graphic. >> yes. >> kathryn: lot of possibilities. >> uh-huh. >> kathryn: we have some food. >> great. >> kathryn: that have signed some consent forms. i was a normal kid in a very small, normal town. and then i'm -- a friend of my family was like, "oh, you should audition for this show, they're doing open calls." i sent in a head shot. my bedroom wall with loaded books stacked up so my phone could -- which is how i still film updates. i still put my phone on books. and i got the job, and it was "heartstopper." then -- i haven't really been home since, sorry, mum. [ laughter ] >> kathryn: i am in awe of you, how you've been able to show up with all of this -- fame, for lack of a better word. with such integrity and sense of self. it's very rare. [ cheers and applause ] yeah. >> it's great. >> kathryn: it's so true. were you a marvel fan? >> i was, i'm a big marvel fan. when i was younger, that's the thing me and my friends -- there's not real a huge amount to do in the isle of man where i grew up. >> kathryn: that's where he's
