We stayed here at the end of the season for the max number of days (3). The campground closes for the 2015 season on September 8, don't know when it will reopen in 2016.

Campground is large, and there are two levels - a lower loop and upper loop. We stayed in the lower loop which had only 1 other site taken. The upper loop had three sites occupied - we spotted a popup camper, trailer, and class C. The bridge to get to the upper loop is narrow, but probably doable for a small to medium sized RV (we didn't feel comfortable trying to get our 30' + tow on it).

Sites have a picnic table and fire pit (though fires are banned) and vary in size. Site #8 is very long and secluded. There is drinking water and vault toilets at each loop, but no showers.

Grounds are well kept and a delight to relax in. We would stay here again if coming through Spokane.

Amazing this place was free and so close to Spokane. Most of the sites were pretty nice. Fire pits, picnic tables, bathrooms. It was clean. Probably half full when I was there. Plenty of trees and shade. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I just have a car and tent. But I saw people with smaller to mid sized travel trailers in there.

This place seems to be very popular with those from Washington state. Namely nearby cities. The two sites I went to had lots of debris in them, but were cleaned up/out before I left with the help of the campground host.

The vault toilets are clean and checked daily if not more then that. The sites themselves don't seem to be checked as often. There is/was a ranger that I ran into who had a chip on his shoulder and was very unpleasant to deal with checking passes. He told me my pass wasn't valid and required proof of purchase. The guy just had a very poor attitude.

The rest of the campers were nice, which is great because Friday-Sunday all spots were full.

There is a nice creek which runs through the middle of the camp. I stayed on both sides, I like the spots across the bridge better for a couple of reasons. 1) Better area for solar. 2) Less traffic.

There are only 3 spots here that are good for solar powered rigs. 2 of which I'm including because the will probably work. Only 1 is really going to get all day sun. If you don't need solar there are plenty of shaded spots, some right next to the water!

Plenty of vault toilets, I believe there are 4 or 5 in total. Every campsite is pretty close to one or two.

Stayed here July, 2019. It’s a small park, hilly, wooded and near Spokane. Most of the sites are shaded but not all are level. Picnic table, fire ring and pit toilets scattered around. Big rigs might have trouble with some of the tight curves, but there were a few camping so it must be workable. There is a maximum 3 day stay and they require a Washington State Park system Discover pass (annual for $35 purchased in Deer Park about 5 miles north of the park or all kinds of other places or online), otherwise free. Quiet. Gate closes at night. Has a camp host and a ranger cruised through a couple of times each day. Clean. Solar worked fine and site 19 is very near pit toilet. Semi- shaded.

Note that a WA Discover Pass is needed for this campground. 3 night stay max. Super close to Spokane. Road coming in very nice but tight.

2 loops with plenty of camping. We had limited choice with needing solar. Many sites not very level. I would say that not all of the sites could have fit our 30ft TT as well.

The bathrooms were VERY clean and the camp host friendly. Sites were all very clean with picnic table and fire ring.

No water pump or trash.

You’re allowed to stay here for three days in a 30 day period. It does require a Washington park pass and there is a camp post that comes around multiple times during the day to check everyone’s and make sure they are not extending their stay past the limit. There are multiple vault toilets which were clean and well stocked and everyone was respectful. There’s a total of 24 campsites spread out across to loops. Sites 19 and 20 are the sunniest for those that need some work. You’re about 15 to 20 minutes from Spokane but it still feels secluded. I had 2 to 3 bars of AT&T service and was able to work for the couple of days. camp hosts were friendly!

We had a wonderful stay at Dragoon! We were a bit nervous staying at a free campground, but thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Site #7 was long enough for our 26 foot Airstream and truck. It was extremely private and although we could hear others we never saw other campers from our site. We had plenty of room for our Pop-Up tent and chairs behind the site. Directly down from the site was a small path leading to the creek where we were able to sit in the shade and cool down. The bathrooms were so clean and the host was wonderful. Our particular site was clean and tidy upon arrival, but the grasses were definitely long and overgrown, which is in part due to the land being owned by the Department of Natural Resources. Free campsites can get a bad review because of the types of people you can come across, but we had wonderful neighbors and can’t wait to camp there again.
