The Wisconsin Department of Transportation provides weekly road construction updates for Adams, Green Lake, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Marquette, Menominee, Oneida, Portage, Price, Shawano, Vilas, Waupaca, Waushara, and Wood counties.
Construction project websites can be found at https://projects.511wi.gov/region/north-central.
Construction schedules may fluctuate pending weather conditions and crew availability.
Adams County
- Highway: WIS 13
- Location: North Street to Mound View Drive, Friendship
- Schedule: May 6 to Oct. 15, 2024
- Project description: This project will include concrete joint repairs and removing the existing concrete pavement surface and installing a new asphalt driving surface. Work will be completed on the existing curb ramps to bring them up to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. New pavement markings and guardrail within the project limits will be installed as needed.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Continue concrete removals
- Remove street lights
- Begin installing concrete curb ramps on the east side of WIS 13
- Traffic impacts:
- The outside lanes of WIS 13 (Main Street) are closed northbound and southbound from North Street to West Street. The parking lanes are closed northbound and southbound from West Street to County J (Lake Street).
- Width restriction of 13 feet is in place on WIS 13 (Main Street) through the limits of the project.
- Curb ramp closures are in place on the westside of WIS 13 (Main Street) at West 3rd Street and West 1st Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project using pedestrian detour signage.
- Temporary traffic signals are in place along WIS 13 (Main St) between Mound View Drive and County J.
- The intersection of West North Street and WIS 13 (Main Street) is closed.
- Starting June 28, curb ramp closures will be in place on the east side of WIS 13 (Main Street) at Airport Drive, East 2nd Street, and East 1st Street. Additionally, the intersection of East North Street and WIS 13 (Main Street) will be closed.
- East North Street will be closed to through traffic at WIS 13 (Main Street).

Forest County
- Highway: WIS 32
- Location: County C to Forest Avenue
- Schedule: May 20 to Sept. 13, 2024
- Project description: The project consists of the rehabilitation of WIS 32 from County C to Forest Avenue. Work will include pavement removal, culvert pipe and storm sewer, curb and gutter, sidewalk, retaining wall replacement, and asphalt paving.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Continue grading, restoration, and curb and gutter installation.
- Traffic impacts:
- Traffic is shifted west through the project limits.
- Both northbound and southbound traffic lanes are reduced to a 10-foot maximum width.
- All shoulders and parking along WIS 32 through the project limits are closed. Both northbound and southbound traffic lanes are reduced to a 10-foot maximum width.

Green Lake County
- Highway: WIS 73
- Location: WIS 23 intersection to WIS 44
- Schedule: June 24 to Aug. 21, 2024
- Project description: Crews will widen WIS 23 and add a left turn lane onto WIS 73. Crews will also resurface WIS 73 from WIS 23 to WIS 44. They will also replace and repair culverts along that stretch.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- On WIS 73, Crews will work on culvert pipe replacements and placement of asphalt.
- On WIS 23, Crews will be staking, setting up traffic control, sawing pavement, and grading.
- Traffic impacts:
- Flagging operations for work being performed on WIS 73.
- WIS 23 lanes shift to the north and are reduced to 11-foot width.

Iron and Vilas Counties
- Highway: US 51
- Location: County W to Weber Creek Bridge
- Schedule: June 17 to September 2024
- Project description: Crews will replace and repair culverts, replace curb and gutter, mill and overlay asphalt pavement, install centerline rumble strips, and upgrade pavement markings.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Continue culvert installation, grading, and paving culvert patches.
- Continue landscaping.
- Traffic impacts:
- Motorists will also encounter one lane flagging operations and temporary traffic signals throughout the project.

Langlade County
- Highway: WIS 55
- Location: Nine Mile Creek Bridge
- Schedule: May 6 to Aug. 8, 2024
- Project description: This project will consist of removing the existing culverts and roadway over Nine Mile Creek and constructing a new buried slab bridge structure and bridge approaches.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Pave the temp bypass lane within the northbound side of WIS 55, shift bypassed traffic to the new bypass lane, and start on the removals and construction of the northwest abutment.
- Traffic impacts: Traffic has been shifted to the west side of WIS 55, traveling on a temporary bypass lane around the work area. By mid to late next week traffic will be shifted to the east side of WIS 55, traveling on a temporary bypass lane around the work area. Traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals throughout this time frame.

Marathon County
- Highway: WIS 13
- Location: WIS 98 to County N
- Schedule: April 11 to Sept. 27, 2024
- Project description: Work includes completing concrete joint repairs and replacements, replacing the asphalt shoulders, replacing guardrail, inlet and manhole repairs as needed, new pavement markings, and replacing curb ramps that are not compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Continue working on concrete repair/replacement areas from Unity to Colby.
- Begin bridge deck overlays; mill decks and work on concrete repairs.
- Start grading in Unity.
- Traffic impacts:
- WIS 13 northbound and southbound lane closures in Unity from 2nd St to North Unity Limits (Approximately 0.5 Miles) from May 13 to July 26.
- WIS 13 northbound and southbound closure with detour from WIS 153 to County N in Colby. Signed detour utilizes WIS 29 and WIS 97. June 19 to Sept. 27.
- WIS 13 full closure between Fairhaven Avenue and 2nd Street (just south of Unity).

- Schedule: June 3 to July 26, 2024
- Project description: Crews will repave the road and will replace sidewalk curb ramps to make them ADA compliant.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Finish paving WIS 13 mainline and start paving intersections.
- Install pavement markings.
- Place base shoulder material on WIS 13.
- Install rumble strips.
- Begin finishing work.
- Traffic impacts:
- WIS 13 northbound and southbound left lane closures, from Apple Road to WIS 98, begin June 24 to July 25.
- WIS 13 northbound and southbound flagging operations, from June 24 to July 19.

Marquette County
- Highway: WIS 23
- Location: 8th Court to Mourningside Court
- Schedule: April 25 to Aug. 13, 2024
- Project description: Crews will replace the pavement, widen the shoulders, and replace culverts.
- Anticipated work scheduled:
- Crews will continue to pave the asphalt. Crews will place base aggregate on the shoulders.
- Traffic impacts: There will be daytime lane closures with the use of flaggers for upcoming paving operations.

Oneida County
- Highway: US 51
- Location: Manitou Park to Minocqua Lake Bridge, Minocqua
- Schedule: April 5 to July 18, 2024
- Project description: Crews will replace the asphalt, and curb and gutter. Sidewalks will be reconstructed and installed on both sides of the road.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Complete finishing items.
- Traffic impacts: Motorists will encounter single lane closures for finishing item completion. Road will be open to four lanes of traffic for weekends and holidays for the remainder of the project.

- Location: Stevens Street to Pollyanna Road
- Schedule: May 17 to October 2024
- Project description: Crews will replace the asphalt pavement and curb and gutter.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Finish grading and paving.
- Place temporary paint and switch traffic control where traffic will be running on the newly paved outside lanes.
- Begin milling the middle lanes.
- Traffic impacts: Motorists can expect reduced lane capacity down to one lane in each direction.

- Location: WIS 17 North to County P
- Schedule: May 6 to Sept. 20, 2024
- Project description: The project will include pavement replacement and intersection upgrades.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Work on excavation and replacing base aggregate.
- Install drainage.
- Begin pouring bridge approach.
- Traffic impacts: Traffic will be detoured to County P and WIS 17 and US 8 will be closed.

Portage County
- Highway: I-39
- Location: WIS 54 and North 2nd Street
- Schedule: July 15 to Nov. 8, 2024
- Project description: Crews will resurface the highway including the ramps, replace guardrail, install high friction surface treatment on I-39 northbound at the BUS 51 interchange, install pavement marking, and install shoulder rumble strips.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Install traffic control.
- Replace guardrail.
- Install curb and gutter; grading and shaping for guardrail.
- Grade acceleration lane at I-39 and US 10 East.
- Traffic impacts:
- I-39 northbound lane closure from WIS 54 to US 10.
- I-39 northbound night lane closure from US 10 to WIS 66 East.
- I-39 southbound shoulder closure between WIS 66 East and US 10.

Shawano County
- Highway: WIS 117
- Location: Express Way to Mutzy Lane, Bonduel
- Schedule: April 1 to July 12, 2024
- Project description: This project will replace pavement, curb ramps to meet current ADA standards, the traffic signals at the intersection of County BE and WIS 117, and complete some watermain work for the village.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Work to be done includes:
- Crews will be pouring the curb ramps on the northwest and northeast quadrants of the intersection.
- Traffic impacts (next 10 days):
- County BE (Green Bay St) at WIS 117 will be down to two 12-foot lanes shifted into the eastbound lanes of County BE from First Street to Church Street.
- WIS 117 will be closed from County BE to Legion Street.
- Signed detour following WIS 29 between Bonduel and Shawano, WIS 55 between WIS 29 north to WIS 22, and WIS 22 between Shawano and Cecil (WIS 22/WIS 117 Intersection).

- Location: WIS 29 to the Langlade County Line
- Schedule: June 24 to September 2024
- Project description: Crews will remove and pave new asphalt surface, replace culverts and guardrails along with pavement markings and centerline rumble strips.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Begin milling and paving of US 45 at the south project limits headed north.
- Work on culvert pipe lining at various locations.
- Work on curb and gutter replacements at various locations.
- Traffic impacts (next 10 days):
- Expect lane closures with flagging operations for culvert pipe work and other grading operations on US 45 between Wis 29 and the Langlade County Line.

- Location: County MMM intersection
- Schedule: July 15 to October 2024
- Project description: Crews will reconstruct the intersection at WIS 29 and County MMM and install a J-turn intersection to improve safety.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will be setting up single lane closures in the median lanes, erosion control devices in the median will be installed, and grading and paving the median shoulders.
- Traffic impacts (next 10 days):
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane (outside travel lane) in each direction along WIS 29.
- WIS 29 left turn lanes at County MMM and Clark Drive and median crossing will be closed.
- Crossing movements and left turns to WIS 29 from County MMM and Clark Drive will be closed.

Vilas County
- Highway: WIS 155
- Location: WIS 70 to Lake Street
- Schedule: May 20 to July 29, 2024
- Project description: This project will consist of resurfacing the road, repair and replace culverts, widen the shoulders, improve ditches, upgrade pavement markings, and install thermoplastic snowmobile crossings.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Pave WIS 155 mainline, intersections, and driveways.
- Install grout in the culvert liners.
- Grade the ditch area and install driveway culverts.
- Place shoulder material.
- Install temporary pavement marking.
- Traffic impacts: WIS 155 traffic will always remain open to traffic. One lane of traffic will be closed during construction with standard flagging operation. Temporary traffic signals will be removed this Friday and traffic will return to one lane closed during construction with standard flagging operation.

Waupaca County
- Highway: WIS 96
- Location: WIS 110 to US 45
- Schedule: May 10 to July 19, 2024
- Project description: This project will consist of resurfacing the highway, repairing several culverts, repairing inlets in Readfield, and installing centerline rumble strips.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will be working on shoulder operations, installing pavement markings, and signs.
- Traffic impacts: WIS 96 daily flagging operations for intersection, driveway, and shoulder gravel operations with flagging for one-way traffic on WIS 96.

Wood County
- Highway: WIS 54/WIS 73
- Location: Swanson Road and Seneca Road, Port Edwards
- Schedule: April 15 to July 2, 2024
- Project description: Crews will replace the asphalt pavement, replace culverts, narrow the roadway on Wisconsin River Drive, replace curb and gutter, and install curb ramps to make them ADA compliant.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Complete finishing work.
- Traffic impacts:
- WIS 54 from County G to Seneca Road is open to traffic. Motorists may encounter shoulder closures and flagging operations as the contractor completes finishing work.

- Location: Juneau County Line to WIS 173
- Schedule: May 2 to August 2024
- Project description: Crews will repave the road, repair several culverts, and new curb and gutter in spots.
- Anticipated work scheduled: Crews will:
- Grade Pine Street to Marathon Avenue.
- Pave asphalt 800’ south of WIS 173 south to the Juneau County line.
- Traffic impacts:
- WIS 80 and WIS 173 will be closed to all traffic between Pine Street and Marathon Avenue in Babco*ck with no through access. Traffic is detoured via WIS 21, WIS 13, WIS 73, and WIS 173.
- WIS 80 will be closed to through traffic from the Juneau County Line to Pine Street in Babco*ck and from Marathon Avenue in Babco*ck to the WIS 80/173 intersection north of Babco*ck. Traffic is detoured via WIS 21, WIS 13, WIS 73, and WIS 173.
- WIS 173 will be closed to through traffic from the WIS 80/173 intersection south of Babco*ck to Pine Street in Babco*ck and from Marathon Avenue in Babco*ck to the WIS 80/173 intersection north of Babco*ck. Traffic is detoured via WIS 21, WIS 13, and WIS 73.
